All the pieces seemed to fall into place: The reason Liz Cronin retained a lawyer, why she left the interview early and the reason Corwin said Amy hated her mother. If it was all true, it was their first break in the case and the only motive. And there was now a reason Samuel Verlice took his life, the guilt had eaten him up. He felt responsible and his last words, ‘The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world,’ made sense.
