Where do you find yourself
surely it is on the stairs
in one direction or another
all of us on a journey

Up the path or down
we get the choice
everything pulls on us
the direction we may coast

Villains and snares abound
pain and grief and loss too
we fight or run but remember
the messenger, a promise of love

Signs of hope
the heart on mend
breaths of healing
a body renewed

Only to fall and crack
the journey seems too much
until we take an offered hand
a fellow traveler with lighted eyes

With our strength renewed
we look up the stairs
and see we’ve fallen so far
hearts become weary

In the middle of the stairs
we wander the most
unsure of our path
we question the Host.
