“I will prepare and someday my chance will come.” Abraham Lincoln
This is a wonderful idea and its importance is paramount for those of us who desire to be more. Abraham Lincoln constantly prepared his character and mind for an opportunity that might come. He was a soldier with no military, an athlete without a league, a student who sought out new teachers.
It behooves the future leader to follow this sage wisdom, so he will be ready for opportunities when they present themselves. Without preparation, it is hard to notice opportunities. When we maintain a learner’s mindset, our thinking stays pliable which enables us to stay on the lookout for new possibilities.
If we will find a way to build our character and sharpen our minds, we will notice more opportunities and they will notice us. When we stay in constant preparation, our potential expands and the boundaries of our capabilities are stretched out to handle more.
Character development and learning are two personal investments that will always be worth our time and will continually yield dividends.
Be sure to prepare—build your character and sharpen your mind today—so when your chance comes, you will recognize it and be able to seize the opportunity that presents itself.
