“The tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives.” Albert Schweitzer
Since first discovering this quote, it has stayed vivid in my mind. I can picture it, like a graveyard of dead dreams that have been laid away in the hearts of people who once aspired to make them a reality.
I imagine laying our dreams down hurts us in some way psychically but also emotionally because when we experience a person chasing their dreams, they are fully alive. There is a life-giving source inside them, fueling them to press on toward their goal. It’s contagious and inspiring, and it brings others to life.
But when someone puts their dream down, for whatever reason, that fire and passion are extinguished. They become dulled like that old knife we keep around in the drawer that doesn’t quite cut anymore.
The good news is, we can start a new chapter today—and make no mistake—today is the only day that really matters. The past and future are immaterial.
If these ideas are sparking something in your soul, then you’ve probably buried a dream that needs to be resurrected. Maybe you need to burn the proverbial boats and chase that dream down.
Why? Well, you get to discover your WHY, but in my limited opinion, we need more dreamers in this world. We need more people who are alive.
